Casandra K. Devins, a vibrant spirit whose laughter illuminated the lives of those around her. Casandra passed away in Brooklyn, New York on November 30th, 2023, at the age of 55 years old. Casandra was born on September 18 th , 1968, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of the belated PFC Joseph D. Devins, U.S. Army and Mrs. Jessie D. Devins. Casandra is survived by her two children, Jasmine Prather and Javon Santos, both of her children were born in Queens, New York and she was a wonderful Mother who loved and cared for her children their entire life up to her passing away. Growing up in Queens, New York, she was known as (Sandy) to her family and friends. She brought joy and love to her family, friends, and community. Casandra was a graduate of Mercy College, where she earned her Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology. Casandra was a visionary and entrepreneur that started her company “Finding A Way Back to Life, Inc”. Casandra passion was serving the underprivileged in New York City. Casandra started following her career goals working in the Health & Human Services field as a Mental Health Counselor/Case Manager. Her last employment before her illness was a Clinician Wellness Coach with “Services for the Underprivileged” where she provided case management, counseling to residents, and was an advocate for clients receiving mental health care. Casandra was also employed by Saint Vincent and Saint Barnabas Hospitals as a Detox Counselor who provided clinical psychosocial treatment plans to patients. Early in Casandra’s career she worked as a civil servant for New York City Police Department as a 911 dispatcher, crisis counselor operator and a TUI Officer. Her love for helping others in crisis was an integral part of her identity, as she had a remarkable talent for capturing the beauty of the world around her. Through her eyes she shared moments of wonder and emotion, leaving behind a legacy of artistry and creativity. Her passion for mental health awareness illuminated her unique perspective and her work will continue to inspire and touch the hearts of many. Casandra loved listening to music and chatting on the phone with her sisters. Casandra had dreams and accomplished her goals of working with people dealing with mental illness. She worked to bring awareness to these difficult challenges of everyday individuals. Her passion was to be the person to help people get through their most challenging times and to find a way back to their life. Casandra was a phenomenal woman who gave so much of herself to others. Casandra was a beacon of positivity and kindness. Known for her infectious smile and unwavering compassion. Her genuine nature and ability to connect with others on a deep level made her a cherished Mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed by her family. Casandra will be greeted in heaven by her father PFC Joseph D. Devins and Mother Mrs. Jessie D. Devins. Casandra leaves to mourn her daughter Jasmine Prather and her son Javon Santos, her siblings Donnie Smith, Cheryl Broome, brother-in-law Tony Broome, Jerry Smith, Ms. Tracy Davis and Stephanie Amoako and brother-in-law Amos Amoako. As well as her nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances. In conclusion, Casandra K. Devins will forever be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for others. May her memory live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May this serve as a fitting tribute to the beautiful soul that was Casandra K. Devins.
