It's essential to consider your funeral planning options if you prefer this option or if you know that someone close to you might want to. Blair Mazzarella Funeral Home recognizes that cremation is a viable option for many families because of its freedom in terms of memorial arrangements.

However, some would rather keep their loved one's ashes close at all times and choose to do so. Some people like to bury them, while others decide to disperse them at a special place. Others may give inter them in a family plot or have them placed in a columbarium. Various options are available. Some people think that if a person is to be cremated, they will not have the opportunity to say their final goodbyes. Simply put, that is not the case.

A Funeral With a Cremation And A Visitation

It is common practice to hold a viewing before the actual burial of a deceased person. Attendees can adequately grieve, view the body, and console the bereaved during the visitation. This is followed by the burial itself, which involves the mourners taking the deceased to the cemetery to lay them to rest.

Even in the case of cremations, it is appropriate to have visitation if time permits. Visiting hours before burial can be just as intricate as regular visitations, with some funeral homes even offering the choice of renting a casket for the occasion. Because the casket is a rental, you won't have to include the cost of the casket in the funeral budget, which is especially helpful if cremation is considered.

Planning A Cremation And A Visitation

You are free to make the visitation as elaborate or simple as you desire. Since cremation is planned, there is no need to embalm the body. However, this is the proper procedure to follow if there is any viewing or visitation. Preparing the deceased for viewing is essential.

A viewing or visitation can also be held after the cremation, though this time, it would be for family and friends only. While the policy regarding cremation urns in churches varies, they are generally welcome.
