Obituary of Orly Nir

Please share a memory of Orly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Orly Nir on March 7th, 2026, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born on January 18th, 1963 in Marrakesh, Morocco to the late Annette and David Benchetrit, she was the youngest of eight siblings. She was predeceased by her brother, Isaac. Orly was a devoted mother to her two children, Tamir and Danielle. Her family was her greatest joy and she truly lived for them. Orly was loved immensely, and she holds a special place in all of our hearts. She was strong, genuine, witty, and loved to laugh. Despite the challenges of her illness, she constantly maintained a positive spirit. She would often say: “God loves me”, and she truly believed it. She was a constant source of encouragement to friends and fellow cancer patients alike. From her son, Tamir: “My mom was the strongest person I know. I believe that her inner strength and fierce love for her family gave her the courage to fight for as long as she did. Above all, she wished for Danielle and me to find fulfillment in our own paths and to build loving families of our own. She was able to dance at both of our weddings and share in the joyful news of our journeys into parenthood. I’m so grateful for the time that we shared with her.” In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the following organizations that were close to Orly’s heart: the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition, who supported Orly throughout her illness; Memorial Sloan Kettering, to support cancer research and patient care; and to the American Cancer Society, whose volunteers provided much needed transportation to treatments. Please also consider donating blood or platelets, as this can make a meaningful difference in patients lives, and was a true gift for Orly to receive during her care. May her memory be a blessing, and may her spirit continue to guide and inspire all who knew her. זִכְרוֹנָהּ לִבְרָכָה
