Burton Barnett of New York, NY passed away on July 10, 2025. He was 91 years old. Burton was born in Brooklyn, NY to Shirley and Philip Barnett on August 2, 1933. He graduated from Tilden High School in 1951 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Brooklyn College. He was a US Army veteran, having served two years at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. After working briefly as a math and science teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School, he chose to pursue a career in the computer industry. For over 25 years, he worked at SIAC (Securities Information Automation Corporation), a subsidiary of the New York and American Stock Exchanges. He ultimately served as SIAC’s senior vice president and chief information officer. Burton lived on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and enjoyed summers in Saltaire, Fire Island. During his retirement, Burton volunteered as a math and science teacher at the Nativity Mission School on the Lower East Side where he taught boys from low-income families. He also enjoyed making stained glass lamps and windows, goldsmithing to create gold and silver jewelry, painting landscapes, dabbling in ceramic sculpture, and attending opera and theater. Burton is survived by his wife, Geraldine DiCostanzo of New York, NY, his children Robert Barnett of Minneapolis, MN, Michael Barnett of Qrendi, Malta, Ellen Barnett of Great Neck, NY, Elizabeth Barnett of Toms River, NJ, Eileen Regis of Brookline, MA, and his grandchildren, Arielle Labiner, Sarah Labiner, Ashley Smith, Rebecca Regis, and Zachary Regis.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Philip Barnett, and his sister, Barbara Lach.
