Harriet Schulz Khosrova passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025 at her home in Century Village East, Deerfield Beach, Florida. She was 97 years old. Born in Hamburg, Germany on March 8, 1928 to Salomea and Moses Schulz, she was sent in 1939 with her younger brother to New York to escape Nazi Germany. She lived at first with family, then at Pleasantville Cottage School, until her mother was able to join them in 1941. She fiercely loved America and was grateful, she said, to be saved by coming here. She lived in Midwood, Brooklyn, then in Forest Hills, Queens for over 60 years where she raised her family, enjoying the theater, music, movies, art (completing numerous oil paintings), and chess, which she taught her children. She volunteered with Hadassah, Sisterhood, and her sons' Yeshiva, Dov Revel, and was employed by Workmen's Circle and other organizations. Noteworthy also, she always had a sense of style and modeled in New York’s Garment Center in her 20s. After re-locating to Century Village in 2002, she was an enthusiastic member of the Choraleers for some years and an active congregant of Temple Beth Israel, relishing all that her new community had to offer as long as she was able. She was a woman with great strength of will, who faced the many challenges in her long life with dignity. Harriet was pre-deceased by her cherished brother, Robert, and her beloved grandson, Jesse. She is survived by her loving children, Sharon Khosrova, Mitchell Khosrova (Elaine), and Steven Khosrova, by her grandchildren Luca Pearl Khosrova and Alex Van Dyne (Jacqueline), by her first great-grandchild, Violet June, whom she had yet to meet, and by extended family in New York and Israel. A private funeral will take place in New York. Donations in Harriet's memory may be made to Temple Beth Israel, 201 S. Military Trail, Deerfield Beach, FL 33442.
